Alexandre Chesnokoff

(1880, Russian Empire - 1941, Paris, France)

Brother of the famous Russian Composer Pavel Chesnokoff ( He graduated from the Moscow Synod School in 1900, where he studied under S. Smolensky. In 1906 he graduated from St. Petersburg Conservatory of Music where he was a pupil of N. Rimsky-Korsakov, and where, later, from 1909 to 1925, he was Professor of the theory of music. From 1925 until his death he lived abroad, participated in various Russian musical organizations in Berlin, Prague and Paris as an orchestra and choir director. He was an honorary member of "Société des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Editeurs de Musique" in Paris.
Died in Paris, he is buried at the Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois cemetery
