Gary Barnacle

Profile:

Saxophone/Flute/Clarinet player, songwriter, arranger. producer and engineer. He owns and operates his digital/analogue recording facility - 241 Studios in London UK. Played with various punk bands like The Clash, Pearl Harbour, The Ruts, The Damned, The Boomtown Rats and Public Image Limited, as well as rockabilly band Stray Cats.
Then through the 80s with groups/artists like: Kim Wilde, Level 42, Swing Out Sister, Visage, Marilyn, Holly Johnson, Soft Cell/Marc Almond, Spandau Ballet, T'Pau, The Creatures, The Beautiful South, Tina Turner, Elvis Costello, Roger Taylor (Queen) and The Cross (3), Andy Taylor (Duran Duran), Phil Collins, David Bowie and Paul McCartney, among others.
During the 90s he worked with such diverse artists as Jamiroquai, Soul II Soul, Guru's Jazzmatazz, Paul Hardcastle, Derek B and James Brown plus Bjork, Eternal, Jimmy Ray and Shed Seven.
Has worked with Yazz in the 80s, 90s and 2012. Also with Cutting Crew in 1986, 2013 and 2015, Andrea Magee in 2013, Emilie Simon in 2014 and Audioshock in 2015, among others. In 2016 he recorded with Robin Bibi among others. 2017 saw him recording with Simon Law and David Palfreyman/Nicholas Pegg on their Decades project. In 2018 there was recording with Joanna Law and a live @ O2 release with Soft Cell. 2019 saw him being reunited in the studio with Rusty Egan (Visage Revisited) plus the beginning of a new recording partnership with E-Bit.............as did 2020 with Steven Jones (6) & Logan Sky. Also in 2020 were recording sessions for Owen Paul and Atheen - Living Your Best Life. 2021 sees him contributing to 3rd Ear Experience - Kinsmen Of The Sun, Kiss Of Deers and Phil Gould - Beautiful Wounds.
In 2022 he contributed various saxes and flute to the Top Ten album Soft Cell - *Happiness Not Included - which were recorded at 241 Studios.
