Began his career as a Greenwich Village folk singer in the early 1960s, before moving to the West Coast where he was a founder member of Quicksilver Messenger Service. Perhaps best known as the author of "Get Together", the quintessential 1960s love-and-peace anthem, later recorded by Jefferson Airplane, The Youngbloods, and many others.
