Hailing from Los Angeles, Rat Fancy jangling guitars and steady drumming that swells into infectious choruses that stick in your head. Formed in the summer of 2016 after binge listening to throwback bands like Life Without Buildings, Strawberry Switchblade and Polaris, the group got its start when Diana Barraza (ex-Sweater Girls) and Gregory Johnson recorded six tracks in their bedroom. Their debut EP “Suck A Lemon” was released May 26, 2017 on Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records. With songs ranging from the paranormal to the extremely personal, Rat Fancy is about not letting small-minded opinions stand in your way. Since forming, they’ve played with bands like Dressy Bessy, Personal & The Pizzas, Elf Power and The Wedding Present, as well as at festivals like SXSW, Athens Popfest, San Francisco Popfest and Oakland Popfest. They are currently recording their LP, produced by David Newton of C-86 legends The Mighty Lemon Drops.
