Whitehouse seem more friendly with their aesthetic sleeve art that bears only little of their sonic image, regularly screaming of painful obscenity - if someone ever created sound as pure reflection of mass murderers and sadists alike, then Whitehouse's is one of the truest soundtracks to most extreme of human conditions. Obsessed/fascinated with anything atrocious, Whitehouse project our worst nightmares - those of torture and pain - take 'Another Crack of the White Whip' compilation, at its best challenging you to put yourself at risk to any of this set's positions; 'You Don't Have To Say Please', the compilation's opening track serves exactly the purpose to insult and humiliate - basically using bizarre image of S/M nature; 'you don't have to say please, get down on your knees, suck my cock, you don't have to say please!' - but where S/M seems to be an intimate, cosy experiment between partners, here it is pure agony of oneself's dominating over the other, without mercy, pounding like a hammer over bruised flesh, over and over again until chucks of meat are left. The Wire magazine recently reviewed one of Whitehouse's current affairs saying - this is music for people who hate themselves. The truth lies there somewhere... Effective execution but impossible to associate with unless you're a self-destructive nutter.

One of the greatest and certainly the longest running project from the earliest days of industrial music. With some lineup changes over the years (members and collaborators such as Peter Sotos, Philip Best, Steven Stapleton of Nurse With Wound, and Kevin Tompkins of Sutcliffe Jugend), founder William Bennett (previously a member of Come) has spearheaded several enjoyable Whitehouse releases, moving towards a digital/analog hybrid of sorts in recent years. This is brutal and confrontational power electronics!
