Anton Bass

Real Name:
Anthony Calleja
Anton Bass has put a new spin on electronic dance music. The accomplished DJ, songwriter, remixer, musician and producer is, in fact, as savvy in the boardroom as he is at the sound board, serving as co-founder and Director of A&R for global full-service record company Sea To Sun Recordings.

As an artist, Bass has scored top 10 Billboard Club Play hits with “Check It Out” and “Nothingness,” co-produced with partner Konrad Carelli under the moniker Karmadelic, featuring vocals from dance staple Sandy B., along with a cover of Journey’s “Who’s Crying Now,” and “Flip Your Mind” for legendary dance label Jellybean Recordings. With popular mix-show DJ Johhny Budz, Bass has also fashioned remixes for Luther Vandross, INXS, Goldfrapp, Kim Sozzi, Ace of Base, Ciara and Missy Elliot.

In 2007, he aligned with DJ/producers Anthony Fonseca and DJ Sted-E to form production trio Speakerbox on the Trackworks label. The top 5 Billboard Club Play hit “Time,” featuring Michelle Shaprow, earned an International Dance Music Award nod in the Best Pop-Dance category, and was licensed as the theme song for Bravo’s “Fashionably Late.” Speakerbox also collaborated with Crystal Waters (“Dancefloor”) and Freedom Williams (“Mindbounce”).

Since 2008, Bass has drummed up support for Sea To Sun’s roster of song-based electronica acts and DJs from many of the world’s renowned DJs, including Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Faithless and Matt Darey. Artist projects released on the label include Sted-E & Hybrid Heights, multi-platinum C&C Music Factory rapper Freedom Williams, actress Traci Lords, Trance Master Alex M.O.R.P.H., Loverush UK! and many more.

Bass also co-wrote and produced Sea To Sun co-founder Sylvia Tosun’s string of five consecutive top 10 hits on Billboard Club Play, including 2010 No. 1 club anthem “Push n Pull,” “Underlying Feeling” and “5 Reasons.”. Grammy-winning mix engineer Tom Lord-Alge has also worked with the pair, as executive producer for Tosun’s 2011 “Above All” EP and forthcoming full-length album.

Bass’ versatile music career also includes a spell performing in various rock bands in the late 1990s a decade later, he co-opted that experience into pop/rock anthem "Who I Am," a track on Ashley Tisdale's 2007 major label top 5 CD "Headstrong.”

In addition, for Sea To Sun—which offers A&R, in-house production, licensing, artist management, events and artist bookings—Bass developed the label’s Global Frequency division, which administers publishing, along with a compilation series and weekly international radio show syndicated around the world, including New York’s iconic Pulse 87.
