Daab

Profile:

DAAB - "Music of hearts".
DAAB - the most popular Polish reggae band was conceived in March 1983 at the initiative of Andrzej Zeńczewski (guitar, vocals), Piotr Strojnowski (vocals, guitar), Dariusz Gierszewski (drums) and Artur Miłoszewski (bass).
In mid-1985, the group recorded it's /debutsingle/ SP with a mystic reggae hit "Przed nami wielka przestrzeń" and dedicated to a certain person - "Do Plasticka". "Music of heart" /Muzyka serc - polish/ was a fresh breath and a big surprise for all musical Poland. Next eponymous Daab's recording, album released in the spring of 1986 featured calm, soothing reggae music and contained a few hits - "Kalejdoskop moich dróg", "Fala ludzkich serc", "Fryzjer na plaży" - including the band's greatest hit ever, "W moim ogrodzie", which also remains Poland's greatest reggae hit.
At the end of 1987, Daab released the album "Ludzkie uczucia" with further hits "Podzielono świat" and "Słowo ciałem się stało". In 80's and 90's Daab played on many european stages /Germany, France, Sweden, Holland, Russia, Danmark/ also with reggae stars as Twinkle Brothers, Linton Kwesi Johnson.
The band celebrated its 10th anniversary with a compilation album "To co najlepsze 1983-93/The Best of.../". It was an a typical compilation, recorded by the original band members with a new energy and studio splendor. The band also embarked on a tour with a few large concerts taking place at the main polish rock-reggae fests. Daab attained a status of a cult band and is still actively touring. They perform small club gigs for fascinated fans and at large venues for an audience of 15-50 YEARS-old. Every Daab's gig is a rare opportunity to see and hear a universally mystical Slavonic - influenced legend of Polish reggae live.
