Gehring, Dr Philip Klepfer. A.B., Mus.B. (Oberlin, 1950), Mus.M. (Syracuse, 1955), Ph.D. (Syracuse, 1963), F.A.G.O. Studied at Carlisle High School, Pennsylvania; the Franklin and Marchsall College, Lancaster, Pennsylvania; the Oberlin Conservatory, Ohio; pupil of Fenner Douglass, Arthur Poister, André Marchal, Harold Vogel, Herbert Elwell and Ernst Bacon. Organist of the Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, North Carolina, 1950-53. Taught at Davidson College, Davidson, North Carolina, 1952-58; faculty member at Valparaiso University, Indiana, 1958-88. b. Carlisle, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., Nov. 27th, 1925.
