Raw Silk came about as the idea of Ron Dean Miller And Bert Reid, both former members of Crown Heights Affair, and they brought in Jessica Cleaves, Sybil Thomas, Tenita Jordan and, later, Valerie Pettiford who toured in place of Thomas.
