I thought the first album was total cheese, and gave him another go on you tube, and i must admit, some, not many, but some are decent, but most is total hyper cheese. I think my 8 years old likes it, she likes it a lot actually, maybe he makes it for the kids, cause i haven't met one adult that doesn't think its complete cheddar.

I myself am a House/Trance head but man, High Contrast makes some sweet sweet drum & bass. Why no one has bothered to take drum & bass into the realms of disco quite like the way High Contrast has, i'll never know. To me it's a match made in musical heaven. You have the pacey breakbeat, funky basslines and soaring discos strings/vocals that made house music so popular.

I can't help but get the feeling that the drum & bass fraternity hate on High Contrast for being successful though. This is the basic downfall of drum & bass. Why is the scene so closed? why does the scene outcast successful artists?

High Contrast makes drum & bass interesting, he makes it appeal to girls, he makes it funky and he makes it memorable. He's got me onto D&B, bearing in mind i'm a house/trance head.

The guy deserves some credit and the d&b scene should be very proud of him and his talent.

When compared to most current d+b artists he seems good..But I would say that most of his material offers no lasting appeal at all. His remixes are poorly crafted..Stupidly simple workouts..adds beats and speeds up originals? Also notice the pick of commercial tracks to ensure their sale and success.
Woah ! Reality check. Generally abismal artist. Whose most accomplished work remains to be "Global love". Heavily reliant on other material and people to make "his" tunes. Definately Drum and Bass for younger audiences.

Link is gifted beyond belief - knowing little about him, it just must be pure, raw talent. who knows his level of formal musical trainiing; he's possbly one of those who have none and it just flows naturally. his style maintains the edge of techstep that I love, throws in a healthy dose of soul, a measured dash of disco and bit of everything else to come up with a sound that others can't match, let alone mimic. Link is carrying forward and updating the mantle of dnb and, for now, can do no wrong, somewhat remiscent of Bukem and the Good Looking/Looking Good era of the mid-90's. for this moment in time, Link does what Sean Booth and Rob Brown did for me and ambient (and then "idm"): creating the music I hear in my head and would create myself if I had the skills, talent, inspiration and time. it simply sounds like what I expect and want to hear at this point in the evolution of music (being one who listens to everything, all styles). cutting edge, in a phrase. God bless Link, and Sean and Rob and numerous others out there, pioneering with passion and vision. they may only know their impact on the scene through record sales and and sold out shows, but it's my daily commute to work where they have the most effect. life would be just that much harder without it, and I thank Link with abandon for doing what he does so well.
