Profile:
Brothers Ron and Russell Mael from Los Angeles, USA have been making diverse music since 1969 under various incarnations of Sparks. In 1979 they ditched the guitars and keyboards of glam geek rock and started working with Italian producer Giorgio Moroder, beginning a love affair with electronic music. Since then they have worked with a variety of people including Finitribe, Les Rita Mitsouko, Erasure, Faith No More and Franz Ferdinand.

The only band I know who could compile a ‘Best Of Sparks’ of songs from 2000 onwards which would be as good or better than a ‘Best Of Sparks’ from the 70s or 80s or 90s.

I agree with the comments below! No one, i say NO ONE writes as genius, clever lyrics like Ronald Mael. No way. Highly underrated cult band.
Kimono My House, such a great album. But their whole seventies work is pretty perfect, except for Introducing. Also check Propaganda and Indiscreet!

Sparks are MUCH more influential than most people are aware of.
They have influenced (maybe not correct english word?) many groups and artists such as for ex. Queen, Depeche Mode, Morrissey (he has even said that "Kimono My House" was the reason he started in music), Björk, Ramones, Erasure, Kurt Cobain, Franz Ferdinand, Al Yankovic to name a few..and have had a big impact on different music styles.
