American Tin Pan Alley lyricist, b. September 27, 1885 in Somerville, Massachusetts – died December 18, 1943 in New York City. He was also an author and charter member / director of ASCAP. Amongst his most famous songs are "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" and "You Made Me Love You".
