While at the Rietveld Art School, he formed the avan-garde punk band The Young Lions along with Ronald Heiloo and Tim Benjamin. He later will be part of another post-punk band from Amsterdam, the Suspect (5).
After that, Rob will focus more on contemporary art.

In 1994 Scholte lost both his legs when a hand grenade exploded under his car.
