Six Hits And A Miss

American swing-era singing group.
Group was formed in Los Angeles in 1936 as a foursome, under the name Three Hits and a Miss, members being Martha Tilton, Vince Degen, Marvin Bailey and Bill Seckler. New members and old came and went including Pauline Byrns, Howard Hudson, Tony Paris, Jerry Preshaw, Lee Gotch,, Mack McLean, and Jerry Duane. The group name and group shrank to Four Hits and a Miss. This configuration briefly included a young Andy Williams. Some of the members left the group and formed The Starlighters.
They charted once as a main group rather than a backing group: "You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To" hit #16 in the U.S. in 1943.
