Anthrax doesn't even belong in the Big 4 in my opinion. They had 2 great albums (Spreading the Disease and Persistence of Time) and even those didn't hold up to the passing of time very well. Any of Metallica's first 4 albums are better than any Anthrax album. Any Slayer album released in the 80s is better than any Anthrax album. Megadeth's 80s output destroys Anthrax. Overkill and Exodus are both better bands than Anthrax and deserve their spot in the Big 4. Anthrax were different and a lot of their output was cringeworthy and cheeseball. My 2 cents here. Completely disagree with the above statement.

And better than Metallica & Slayer as well, any day! There is NO band like Anthrax out there, they were/are completely unique. While Metallica, Megadeth & Slayer always had this obvious feel to them, that they were simply a continuation of NWOBHM, Anthrax were something completely unique. Damn, 'til this day I've not heard an Anthrax-clone & I don't think I ever will. They are simply ONE OF A KIND.

I still do not know why I never liked this band. I tried many times to listen to them in the past to listen to them but ....i couldn't. This is not thrash for me. Respect to those great musicians but I prefer other thrash bands from USA.

They lost their Punk Rock roots in the 1990's which made Thrash Metal, Thrash Metal
