Bill I don't care just let me tap my bass and make some tabla drum'n'bass Laswell. A straight up beast of a musician/producer/band starter. I've always looked up to this guy.

A true musical genius. I was a fan long ago and just re-discovered. Hard to find some of his best stuff on vinyl - even on Discogs. Worth checking out his Bandcamp and personal pages though.

I second jaxxalude's comments. From his production on herbie hancock's (love it or hate it) seminal Future Shock album, his own band material, itself a rotating cast of incredible musicians, to side projects including the invisibl scratch picklz, rob swift, jah wobble, his unbelievable live shows, the painkiller project, his experimental works with John Zorn, his dub projects, forays into hip hop, his axiom ambient projects, hardcore and glitch with mick harris, drum and bass, production on the golden palominos, work with haruomi hosono (of YMO fame in japan), you name it this man is literally EVERWHERE. His "chinese dub" album is, alone, worthy of crediting him as a genius. His extensive, impressive, trail-blazing career spans 5 decades already (70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s) and he is as creative as he is prolific.

Strange that no comment is still done about such an important figure in music. Not just electronic. In music, period. Bill Laswell's music is not one to be tagged, simply because this man has travelled so many musical roads. His discography is almost impossible to be updated, given his almost inhuman work rate. But wherever he is, his influence is felt. One thing is for sure: as a bass player, it is hard to beat this man's abilities. And as a producer, he is simply one of the most creative and groundbreaking people ever to walk this planet. He may not hit the mark all the time (and given his work rate, that is impossible). But when he hits the mark... boy, we can almost say he hits the jackpot!
