Jamie's music continued to be released throughout the 1980s, often crediting Frankie Knuckles as the artist when it was a joint partnership. Songs released included: “Your Love" "Baby Wants to Ride," "Cold World," "Bad Boy,” "Waiting on My Angel" and "I'm Gonna Make You Scream."
"Waiting On My Angel”, released in 1985, was the first Chicago track to break into Billboard magazine's "12-Inch Single Sales" chart. The track was so big that the pressing plant - New York's Masterdisk - couldn't keep up with demand. 5,000 copies were initially pressed with 1,000+ copies being sold per day in Chicago alone.
As time progressed Principle had entries on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in the early 1990’s and 2000’s, including: "You're All I Waited For" - which is a collaboration with Steve "Silk" Hurley, CeCe Peniston's song "I'm Not Over You" (No.2 in US Dance, No.10 in US R&B) which was co-written by Principle and 2004 #1 hit on the US Dance Chart with "Back N Da Day, alongside Frankie Knuckles. In 2007 a 4 track EP was released entitled "Green Velvet Presents Jamie Principle - The Call” which marked the collaboration between these two artists and sparked the hit “LaLaLaLaLa”.
Fast Forward to 2016, with a restless spirit in pursuit of his next adventure, Mr. Principle, in collaboration mode, has been involved in several projects. Jamie’s collaborations include The Gorillaz, Felix Da Housecat, Nic Fanciulli,Aeroplane, and an upcoming collaboration with The Black Madonna.
Jamie’s work with the Gorillaz consists of being featured on their last two studio albums 2017’s Humanz with “Sex Murder Party” featuring Zebra Katz and 2018’s The Now Now with “Hollywood” featuring Snoop Dogg. Jamie has spent both 2017 & 2018 touring around the world with Gorillaz.
In recognition of his work and dedication to the formation and development of House Music, Jamie Principle has recently received an award from the City of Chicago and its Mayor. Much more than an accomplished singer and lyricist, Jamie is a gifted musician who played every instrument on those legendary works that have now become part of music History. Always the trendsetter, expect to see more of Jamie Principle this year.
