This is my favourite Ozric Tentacles off-shoot. Started out as ambient, but defy categorisation today - if / when they are active. The umbrella term 'psychedelic electronic music' just about covers their style. Predominantly a live improvisational affair, but they have also released some studio stuff. Their early style was Ozrics with just synths (no guitar or rhythm section), much like the more relaxed side of their parent band. Later Ed brought in his guitar and that brought Nodens Ictus even closer in style to the Ozrics. When Merv has been in the line up the sound has often taken a distinct Eat Static flavour.Very often Nodens Ictus gigs have been used as testing ground for future Ozrics material. Since the Ozrics have relocated to America and Merv and Joie have remained in England, Nodens concerts are not likely to happen any time soon. Thankfully there's a chance of further Nodens Ictus releases via www.ozrics.com, though obviously these are more likely to be concert recordings.
