Stanley Dance (September 15, 1910, Braintree, Essex – 23 February 1999, Escondido, California) was a jazz writer and oral historian of the swing era. He began writing for the French magazine Jazz Hot in 1935, and wrote for Jazz Journal from 1948 to 1999. He was married to Helen Oakley Dance.
