In my opinion Peter Green was the most charismatic English blues guitarist, singer and songwriter
around. In his second incarnation with The Splinter Group he explored his passion for Robert Johnson. Listen to the Supernatural, Albatross, Black Magic Woman and Man of the world for Peter Green at his best.

And when talking about great rock guitar or British rock/blues guitarists specifically don't forget Peter Green is right in there with the likes of Beck, Clapton, and Page.
His guitar playing is excellent along with his songwriting skills giving him a high place in the Guitar Pantheon. The original Black Magic Woman was changed very little into the ever popular version by Santana, who use Greens'solo structure and buildup basically note for note in their fine-tuned cover. The Green Manalishi which was very heavy rock well before its time is another fine example of Greens vision.
The 1966 John Mayall With Eric Clapton - Blues Breakers, probably Claptons' finest release, was followed the next year by John Mayall And The Bluesbreakers* - A Hard Road, which featured Green's guitar & vocals. "A Hard Road" is an equally awesome recording which includes such heavyweight Peter Green compositions as "The Supernatural".
I only am scratching the surface here, but Green has a fairly large amount of great music to check out.
