Mat Zo

This guy sold out big time. Starting out as a creative Progressive producer in the mid 00s, Mat brought us some quality music, including the likes of "Moonset", remixes of Niklas Harding & Funabashi - Addictive and Signalrunners - Recoil from the 2007 re-release "Recoil2". His sound would soon evolve just a few years later, experimenting in more futuristic sounds with more traditional House and a hint of Electro, as can be heard in "Nuclear Fusion", and remixes of Tiësto - Driving To Heaven and Mark Pledger vs Matt Hardwick - Fallen Tides.

As for nowadays? Forget it. He has converted fully into the over saturated "EDM" sound. Examples of this would be Mat Zo & Porter Robinson - Easy and his remix of Ellie Goulding - Burn. It may bring in the money, but it's so disappointing to know what creative ability he has shown in the past going to waste.

A good emergent artist, that in the future maybe he will become a great artist, but i think that at the moment he is absolutely and enormously overrated: his melodies and his sequence are very simple, he use always the same sounds and the same scheme! It seems that he continues to copy his own tracks!!! I have read some comments for example: he his a genius, he is the new bach, he is already a legend....mmmh... It takes more to become a legend! For example, his remix of tiesto's driving to heaven is only a light and catchy remix, he has spoiled the beauty, the finess and the sensitive melodies of the original, oversimplifying the track in a simple repetitive melody with some chords. Maybe the original driving to heaven by tiesto is not that masterpiece, but it is a track with an uncommon accuracy,creative and technical. Anyway, mat is a very good surprise, and i think that we hear about him in the future, and his music is catchy and not bad, even if i think that there are many emergent artists that deserve more, and it's not the only artist who started to produce at the age of 16. There many artist that has released whole cd at the age of 15, like basshuter, that become resident at important clubs at the age of 18 like serge devant or that whose quality and talent was known to someone even before the age of 16 like tiesto, who performed in a very important club of his city at the age of 16! In the end, i've heard many songs of mat, even his projects with MRSA , but i've heard even many artists that produce music of very different quality!!!!
