Profile:

Peter Kolovos (b. June 1977) is an American electric guitarist, experimental musician, improviser and producer from Los Angeles, California. He was a founding member of the Open City trio and established two record labels, Thin Wrist Recordings and Black Editions (2). Peter started his career circa 1997 when he began collaborating with Cincinnati experimental musician and violinist C. Spencer Yeh, who was primarily involved with Burning Star Core drone/noise project. Kolovos and Yeh played as KY Duo and in other formations, such as CKY Trio with saxophonist Andrew Choate, with performances and sessions documented on Spencer's label DroneDisco on several ltd edition tapes and CD-R releases. Around that time, Peter Kolovos formed Open City trio with guitarist Doug Russell and drummer Andrew Maxwell.

In 1999, Peter established Thin Wrist Recordings, with Open City's debut self-titled LP as the inaugural release. The trio released three full-length albums and half-dozen CD-Rs on Thin Wrist before disbanding in 2005. Kolovos began collaborating with John Wiese and his experimental grindcore/noise band Sissy Spacek around 2008, releasing 10" acetate on Thin Wrist and appearing on several albums. In 2009, Kolovos released his debut solo full-length album, New Bodies LP. Peter's second album, Black Colors, followed in 2013, released by Thin Wrist Recordings on 3x12". The guitarist released A Wolf Should Only Be Lone cassette in March 2015, documenting life performances from his 2014 West Coast Tour, on Brooklyn-based label Ba Da Bing!.

In 2015, Peter Kolovos founded his second label, Black Editions, dedicated to producing definitive vinyl reissues from the legendary Japanese label P.S.F. Records. Subsequently, Black Editions began releasing new works from P.S.F.-related artists and other notable Japanese underground musicians. Kolovos began partnering with Steve Lowenthal, founder and creative director of Vin Du Select Qualitite (VDSQ) label, and they reorganized all three labels under Black Editions Group, with Lowenthal joining as sales distribution & promotions director.
