I didn't think much of Dizzee at first, yeah he was good but his latest stuff 'from a young kid to adult' is a lot deeper mature wiser and truthful.
IMO he's one the best mcs out there, that being said there a lot more on his level.

Interesting that on 'fix up look sharp',dizzee uses the line 'being a celebrity don't mean sh*t to me'.anyone else think we are dealing with a MASSIVE sell-out?

I respect your point and your candour. I'm not claiming for a second that if I had the opportunity to make copius amounts of money that I would turn it down. I'm just saying I wouldn't promote myself as someone who would reject monetary or material wealth on some kind of artistic basis to then do the polar opposite and make as much money as I could.

lol, but to be fair that was back in 2003 when he was still only 18!! At that time he would of had NO IDEA that he would get so successful and famous.
Being a UK rapper is not a very profitable profession and only a few get really famous and well known. He would have worked out that by getting a song into the top 40 charts meant he made a lot more money than just producing underground tunes. Everybody needs to get paid for their work, and although I think some of his newer stuff is a bit weak, I wouldn't call him a sellout...
Anyway, I've still got an old SideWinder tape from 2002, with DJ Slimzee, Wiley & Dizzee which is fucking HEAVY!!

Dizzee has just won the Mercury Music Prize in Britain which named his album "Boy In Da Corner" as the best of 2003. It beat artists such as Coldplay and Radiohead.

DR is completely nuts. One of the biggest new MCs on the garage scene, not only does he rap but he produced his album himself coming up with some mental beats and giving UK garage a completely new sound.

Definitely one to watch in the future.

Not a bad forecast:

NME Award 2004
Urban Music Awards 2009
BRIT Awards 2010

Not to mention that Dizzee Rascal is guesting on all sorts now. This time next year he will be the Rap equivalent of the Spice Girls... Burn out, don't fade away! ;-)
