Mississippi Sheiks

Mississippi Sheiks

Profile:

Blues string band, who recorded prolifically for OKeh 1930-1931, for Paramount in 1932, for Columbia/OKeh 1933, and for Bluebird 1934-1935.
"This group consisted at various times of: Bo Chatman, v/g/vn; Lonnie Chatman [i.e., Lonnie Chatmon], v/vn; Sam Chatman [i.e. Sam Chatmon], v/g; Walter Vinson, v/g/vn. The instrumentation used is obviously very interchangeable and true personnels are at most times difficult to determine." (Blues and gospel records 1890-1943 (1997), p. 642)
