The Apples are hands down the most exciting artists i've heard in a long, long time. I have collected various types of music all my life and these guys absolutely blow my mind. The DJ's along with the horns, the upright bass, and the tightness of the whole act together in every track is outstanding. Check them out for sure. PS. All of their releases sound even better on Vinyl !

If you've not heard this band yet do whatever it takes to get your ears on some Apples! Mind-blowingly ass-shakingly funky as funk music to make your body MOVE! The energy on all their records is amazing, as is the muscianship and production; huge brass section making you jump about along with the tight-as drumming and double bass action... and the turntablism - not overdone, not a gimmick, just there because it needs to be (and awesomely done) - turning a great funk outfit into something greater. Grab their (EDIT:) - sorry Apples - first two albums and have a listen, see how long you can stay still :D
They've covered RATM's 'Killing In The Name' (in style!) and finished their set with it when I saw them and the crowd was nuts; built up from an amazing set to a finale which had everybody grinning like monkeys with 6345 bananas, shouting out the lyrics, truely pulling the audience together - glorious - they finished by repeating the main melody of the song - brassed up - and some amazing scratching and lyric dropping of Ol' Dirty Bastard, Wu Tang and other hip-hop samples - a crazy piece of mashed-up genius :)
Go listen!
