My sure-to-be-unpopular opinion: while I love both Spacemen 3 and The Darkside, I enjoy listening to The Darkside much more than I do S3. And yes, S3 is more influential, I agree. But there's something wonderful about the psychedelia that came out of Pete Bain's post-S3 brain. It was somehow extremely genuine as sonic expression, and simultaneously a very visual musical language—it created a world I really enjoy returning to now and then.
