Achilleas Persidis (Athens, 1951) has been a guitarist since the age of 11. He has studied any different types and styles from an early age and performed live with various ensembles throughout Greece, collecting experience that eventaually led to the 'Notios Ihos' (South Sound) formation in 1987. Two geographical and musical periods have strongly influenced him as a musician: firstly, from 1969 to 1974 he travels constantly to Spain and studies Spanish guitar, and secondly from 1980 to 1986 he resides in Crete, where he studies that particular musical tradition, learning lute and for 5 years being a permanent member of Ross Daly's and Psarantonis's musical formations. He has participated in over 100 albums of Greek discography, while composing music for theater and documentaries. He has also resided abroad, acquiring valuable assets of knowledge and culture about music. He has developed a very personal style of playing and composition, and is considered on the best contemporary guitar and lute players.
