Martin Heidegger
German philosopher, born in Meßkirch, September 26, 1889, died in Freiburg im Breisgau, May 26, 1976. His works particularly focused on questions of being, human existence, and the history of philosophy. They have proved highly influential on continental philosophy and have thus informed a wide range of philosophers such as Hannah Arendt, Jean-Paul Sartre, Hans-Georg Gadamer and Jacques Derrida.
