Profile:

Czech musician, singer, composer, teacher and popularizer of folk songs. His relationship to music was influenced by the folk music tradition of the native Podluží.

Born August 18, 1933 in Starý Poddvorov. Died February 4, 2015 in Prague, Czech republic. In 1957 he became a member of the Prague Madrigalists. From 1965 to 1967 he studied postgraduate in Salzburg with Carl Orff at the Orff Institute for Music Education Pedagogy. Jurkovic founded the Czech adaptation of the Orff Schulwerk teaching approach for schools. Pavel Jurkovic has authored or co-authored numerous textbooks and professional publications.
