Jarrod Fowler

Profile:

Jarrod Fowler is an American composer, experimental music producer, performer, and scientist specializing in entomology, pollen bees, horticulture, and conservationism. Fowler began his musical career in the early 2000s, progressively shifting from percussion and experimental electronics towards ecological sound art, so-called "plants & insects" music, and, in more recent years, innovative and unorthodox sound design that de described as "non-musicology," "rhythmics," and "(Non-)Phenology."

In 2018, Jarrod Fowler began working with an astrologer Amber Wolfe Rounds on a new side-project, Zizia. The composer utilizes Amber's celestial diagrams, transposing them over terrestrial maps to establish a list of specific geographical points. He would then make site-specific field recordings and collect various natural objects and specimens at said locations, later using them to create Zizia's music. Fowler and A.W.Rounds also currently work with an American experimental composer Michael Pisaro-Liu, as Pisaura, and their debut Asteraceae CD came out in 2020 on Sedimental label.

Other prominent experimental artists who collaborated with Jarrod Fowler over the years include Taku Unami, Seth Cohen, Dakim Saadiq, Toshiya Tsunoda, Ross Goldstein and Seth Barger, Brandon LaBelle, and many others.
