Paul Johnson
Real Name:
Paul Leighton Johnson
Profile:
Born and raised in the birthplace of House Music, Paul Johnson has released a vast amount of music for some of the most consistently underground dance labels before hooking up with Peacefrog Records. 12" releases on the likes of Cajual Records / Relief Records and Dance Mania led to his debut album release "Bump Talkin'" in 1996. This and the follow up "Feel The Music" became two of the most talked about releases of their time. His remix work for Stacy Kidd, Joey Beltram, Green Velvet, Armando, Ce Ce Peniston, Ron Trent, K-Alexi, and Steve Poindexter made its way into all the big jocks boxes, many of which remain there to this day.
Due to being injured in a shooting accident in 1987, he lost his legs and thus uses a wheelchair.

In the mid-'90s, my friends and I were throwing warehouse parties ("raves") in Dayton and Columbus, Ohio. Getting the big-name Detroit and Chicago DJs to come play for 350–550 kids in po-dunk USA was nearly impossible. They all were getting booked to fly out and play for thousands of people every weekend in Europe, and we just couldn't compete. It was really frustrating trying to get anyone; they all either wanted too much money or were just never available. But Paul Johnson was one of a few hard house DJs who would always show up for us. He was always in a great mood and just loved the music so much. He would tear it up every time, filling the venue and making everybody in the place dance their asses off. He was friendly and professional as well. I would love to see him spin again.
