Terry Rae

Real Name:Terry Rae

The second member of the Hollywood Stars to be recruited by Fowley. Terry's professional musical career stretches back to the mid-1960s. By the time he joined the Stars, he had already drummed with the Driftones (later known as the Yellow Payges), the Palace Guard (replacing wunderkind Emitt Rhodes), Sweet Wine, Strawberry SAC (featuring Greg Mumford, vocalist on The Strawberry Alarm Clock’s “Incense and Peppermints") Jamme (produced by John Phillips of the Mamas & the Papas), and the Flamin' Groovies. Rae witnessed nearly every major important rock act of the period, either as a fan (the Beatles at Dodger Stadium; the Rolling Stones’ first L.A. appearance at the Forum; the Yardbirds with Jeff Beck) or an opening act. In the '60s, Terry had his hair cut at the salon owned by Jay Sebring, who would tragically be murdered by the Manson Family in 1969. After the Stars broke up in 1978, Terry became a security guard at the Whisky A Go Go and worked there during the L.A. punk explosion.
