In the Spring on 1967, Bob Watkins joined a rock band called The Fourth Estate, as lead vocalist. Bob was in the Navy at the time. The Fourth Estate changed their name to The Soultons in the Summer of 1967. In the Spring of 1968, they cut "Rain Down Soul / Baby, I Don't Know" on Bay Town Records. The Bay Town recording engineers, Barry Carlos and Oscar Hefner asked Bob if he would sing vocal on a song they were working on called "Soul On Ice". Bob agreed and cut "Soul On Ice". It was under the name, Bobby Watkins And Fire. The other members of The Soultons were not on the recording of "Soul On Ice". After cutting "Soul On Ice", Bob continued to sing lead vocal for The Soultons until August of 1969, when he got out of the Navy. He went back to the east coast to be with his family.

Bob also sang with The Soultons from 1967 to 1969. They cut Rain Down Soul on Bay Town in 1968. He always put on a great show.
