A dead-on Elvis impersonator from Belfast who wraps the familiar booming, warbling baritone around new and old chestnuts including Nirvana's "Come As You Are" and Thin Lizzy's "Whiskey In The Jar." Despite the obvious novelty of the material, the King's approach seems natural and inspired and more fun just watching a fat man in a suit. Do yourself a favor and listen to his version of Tim Buckley's "Song To The Siren. Paul's cockatoo haircut must go down as a close second to mike scores "seagull" hair for best haircut of the 80s (not forgetting the mullets of nik kershaw and paul young! thou as he said it was a real hit with the ladies!!).
King were recommended by none other than spandau ballets Tony Hadley and made instant success with their smash hit love and pride in 1984 reaching number 2 in the uk charts, which sadly coralled them into the pen of one hit wonders of the 80s, alongside chart acts such as baltimora, falco etc.
...Nowadays the band look so much different, the drummer apparently now works in asda!!!
