Bored Stiff is internationally known for their classic underground, raw and original sound. Their lyrics and production center from a style that captures samples and blends ideas and sounds like a collage. Bored Stiff also known as B.S. or The Stiff was formed in 1992 in the Fillmore, lower Haight Street section of San Francisco. Made up of 12 members including Equipto, Big Shawn, TD Camp, Mint Rock, White Mic (Brussel Sprouts) , Dubstar (Rick Flare), P-Way,Ike Plump, Julz, and more. The group recorded countless tapes through the 90's,in which a lot of beginning hip hop listeners got there first glimpse of rap music. They released two classic EPs, "Explainin”, & "Timeless" on Vinyl & tape (now high priced collectors items) on their label Hella Records. TD Camp & Big Shawn's production along with the rest of S.A.D Productions contributions (Equipto, Julz. P-Whaley, TD Camp & Big Shawn ) is arguably some of the best to come out of the west coast in the early 90's. They had a sporadic beginning to 2000 after member Jo Jo died a few years earlier. They released "Ghetto Research" and then after a few years went by before they resurface with "From The Ground Up" , "The Sad Truth" , & "Now more than Ever". Members filtered in & out on each album, due to the largeness of the crew but they always came with a strong presence & feel, that carried the Bored Stiff traditions on... dope beats & fun energetic conscious lyrics about everyday life. Most of the crew does solo music now, but they come together here & there for new projects and collaborations. Rocking shows throughout the West Coast, Europe, Cuba, and Japan, the group built a strong reputation and underground fan base. Bored Stiff has always been ready to fill the gap left wide open by the Rap scene. While most artists seem scared to be themselves, Bored Stiff makes music with the confidence to make a difference.
