All electro purists, pseudo-intellectuals can run their mouths about Fischerspooner as long as they want to, just the finale to Emerge demonstrates how hardcore these New Yorkers can be. The sound is uncompromised, crashing in fast-paced beats and goddamn it, it makes the audience trash ! Is it techno ? Is it disco ? Is it punk ? Is it pop ? No. It is electroclash as good as it can be, fullforce. What distinguish FS from the rest is obviously the originality they inject in their music, as the beats rarely repeat themselves endlessly, a pattern often encountered in electroclash. But their debut album, #1, isn't just about dancy beats. Some strange experimentations ("Fucker", "Ersatz" and the kitsch parody "Tone Poem") proove that this music is not just about one single hype. And as if all this fresh wasn't enough to feed the imagination, they bring on a REAL show when performing live, instead of just tweak buttons, sing and smoke cigarettes as a lot of the artists of the electro community do. Going on self-derision, contradiction and voluntary technical problems in temporary art galleries full of conceptual art, getting costume changes and implicating the public in the madness, Casey Spooner is the perfect host for the next generation of electronic exhibition.

Do whatever you want, sooner or later, you'll be facing either Fischerspooner or it's offspring. And this is just a matter of time.

I have just got back from Berlin where I saw Fischerspooner play live at the Gigolo party. I knew there was this big electro thing going on but not to such an extent. Berlin is the place to experience this, no doubt. DJ Hell played too, and I have to say this scene is the most exciting thing to happen to music for a while. And it is a scene; the fashion, attitude, everything just cool as f***. Thank god electro has not just been dumped in the archives of music. Grow a mullett and rock on.

at first i didnt really like the music. the whole presentation, the theatrical aspects. the art. i could appreciate. now, 2 years later and they are on the edge of selling out. million dollar record deals and electro mainstream! i was lucky enough to catch one of their performances last friday in nyc. it was ok. they lip- synced! lol. it was hot. (as in warm!) full blown superstar was the scene. hipster chic. everybody adores fischerspooner. even the dogs in soho! i just dont really get what all the fuss is about. they've been hot! but everyone acts like its this whole new thing and "oh this electro music etc etc. and electroclash is great etc!" anyways, i dont really have a point here. i do enjoy fischerspooner. lets just hope they dont do gap or mcdonalds campaigns!
