Slave Raider

Slave Raider

Profile:
Slave Raider was an American heavy metal band formed in 1985 that was known for its over-the-top antics, heavy make-up and glam song lyrics.

In the 1980s, the Minneapolis music scene was primarily known for The Replacements, Soul Asylum, Hüsker Dü and Prince among others.
In the Twin Cities, Slave Raider had a sizable following that were known as 'The Raid'.
They opened for such 80s bands as Ratt and Poison with the original line up.

The band recorded three albums in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but were never able to make much of a dent in the glam metal scene.

The band was dropped by its record label following their third album release in 1990, and broke up soon after that with the band members going on to solo projects.
The original line up has periodically reunited since then to perform the occasional reunion show.

I lived in the twin cities during the heyday (80"s) of glam/power metal. One of the best bands I ever saw was SLAVE RAIDER.The first time I saw them was at a bar called the pain reiliever on the east side of saint, paul.I didnt like them.I guess I didnt really pay attention to just how good they were.I did continue to see them at all the twin cities rock clubs and watched them grow in popularity very rapidly! I grew to absolutely love them and their stage show grew also.Their fan base was huge!SLAVE RAIDER simply was a hard rocking machine! They became the most popular band around. The musicianship was top notch and them boys on the guitar could sure play!!.And the bass player (lettissia Rae) was nothing less then excellent! Anybody who loves rock and power metal from that era shpild surely check out and listen to them if you ever encounter the chance.I collect all their cassettes or discs that I find at all the local record shops and have quite a few of each. They also made a single for the minnesota twins world series that I have a few of also.In my opinion,SLAVE RAIDER was one of the greatest rock bands to ever come out of that era BAR NONE!!!. "WE ALONE HAVE THE ULTIMATE WEAPON,THE NUCLEAR WEAPON,WITH THE UNQUESTIONED ABILITY TO DELIVER IT ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!".....
