I periodically check in on echospace releases. I saw this one, listened to it. Ace. These guys rarely disappoint. Masters of the genre.

Seconds To Forever (Deepchord Mix I) It's ART!!! (In all senses)... needs to release in vinyl 180 gr dark blue marble "Single Sided"... and lengthen the track about 16 minutes or more. :)

Where the h e double hockey sticks is this available? The tunes are great, but I wish they were available in a real format, perhaps on the cd that I already bought...

I really do love this label more than just about any other out there right now. I've been into electronic music since 1978 and seen and heard just about everything the music has had to offer. I lost touch with electronic music in 1999 and didn't come back to it until a friend gave me a copy of some early DeepChord material, it brought me back to a time I was so passionate about electronic music, it was at this moment I decided it was time to start getting interested again. They put out some great material for 4 or 5 years and then vanished, when I found echospace it was this same friend passing me along a CD of "The Coldest Season" this is when I knew there was something special brewing but it was this record which brought it all full circle. If you pass up this sonic artifact you'll end up missing a very important part of electronic music history, if this isn't deemed a classic in the years to follow people haven't heard or felt what I have from this production. After years of following these artist I would be inclined to say this is their magnum opus, the greatest entry into a world left unexplored, no destination just a ticket to somewhere beyond the clouds and I assure you it's a voyage you must take.

Never was into dub techno and the whole "let-the-wind-hiss-through-my-headphones-for-twelve-minutes" aesthetic, but this record is something else.
While both versions of Seconds To Forever are quality techno tranquilizers on a mighty deep house tip, it is the monumental Beyond The Clouds (Reprise) on the flip which is just that, if not more.
Recommended on a psy trance forum I visit, it took about five minutes of youtube and staring at my monitor and I was already on the hunt for a copy.
Luckily, this all happened about three to four days after the official release so I didn't have to spend my pension funds for it!
The voyage in conveys is one of melody, harmony and cozy warmth. It is really a desert island track marked by providing contentment and severe comfort. On the verge of ambient, it introduces vague traces of mellow percussion just to enable you to gently keep the head nodding while chilling out on the terrace of your lakeside cabin.
Rarely does music come in so much glory while sounding as unobtrusive as Beyond The Clouds does. The swooping layers are arranged to hypnotic perfection, the cherubic vocals add an extra taste of the divine, the humming bass line really lets you take off on Aladdin's magic carpet to a place far above the clouds...

Trust me on this one. You need this record. I have not felt like this about this style since Basic Channel's Quadrant Dub release, and hopefully that means something, coming from someone whose interest in this particular sound does not reach much further than an occasional listen out of mere curiosity. The B side track is a roller coaster of emotion few can equal. A must!

On first listen I wasn't certain this record was for me but given the time I've spent with it I think this may be my favorite release from this label. The track which has pushed me over is "Beyond The Clouds" for its gentle unwinding atmospheres, billowing chords made of liquid, insistent and modulating, propelled with a singlemindedness that verges on the disturbing. The second mix of "Seconds To Forever" is also something quite special using the originals syncopated chords rendering a cross between Detroit techno and roots oriented conga smears turning to dub as a mediating influence, using reverb and delay to smear it all into something hazy and indistinct, a truly profound work here.

A highpoint for the echospace label and possibly also a turning point. We are now 3 months into 2011 with no news of a new echospace vinyl in the works. Will Rod and Stephen decide to fire up the vinyl presses and give it another go, or is this it? From the wants and have stats on this record, it appears for the first time in echospace history the numbers being pressed are going lower while demand is going higher. No doubt rising global costs are a contributing factor for this change. You can thank the unprecedented currency debasement for that one.

I would like to personally thank the echospace crew for all that they've done. Its not easy to get these projects mastered, pressed, labeled, sleeved, and out the door. There is a lot of consideration that goes into the final presentation that we receive in a juno box one day from the mailman. Still, echospace find a way to get it done without beating people up on prices. Such an inspirational story and so many nights spent with my family, my decks, and these records. I personally hope that every copy of this release ends up in the hands of someone who really enjoys it.

Edit: Sometimes I hear an ever so gentle touch of E2-E4 in the second half of Beyond The Clouds. Does anyone else hear it?

Edit2: Be careful handling the needle around the B side of this vinyl. Its not easy to fit 23 minutes onto a single slab. The grooves are tight. If you rake the needle over top of the outro you can easily put audible pops into the recording. Be gentle.
