TJ Hertz has released hard-edge techno under the moniker Objekt nearing five-years. Originally, little was known of the man behind the white-label releases; only around “Objekt #2” was any photo circulated. Rumor had it that Objekt was none other than Richard D. James up to old tricks (as so often happened w/ faceless, respected producers at the time before James’ own reemergence). The sentiment was not completely off base given Hertz’s pure excess of dancibility and thirst for experimentation, all balanced in execution for maximum effect. Yet, the most glaring aspect (even at the start) was how tinged Objekt’s music was with the sound of underground techno’s center for the last decade: Berlin. Hertz has continuously released top-tier music, become well known for DJ sets that are talked of long after and is no longer a white-label secret for these very reasons.
Recommendations: Freerotation 2014 DJ set, BOILER ROOM “Objekt & Friends” session, Objekt “#1” “#2” & “#3,” LSR012 “Ganzfeld” and the rest as it’s hard to find a miss, really.
