Esplendor Geométrico is a Spanish industrial outfit formed in the early eighties by Arturo Lanz, Gabriel Riaza, and Juan Carlos Sastre.
Saverio Evangelista joined with Arturo Lanz as the only remaining member in 1990.
Esplendor Geométrico comes from "Lo splendore geometrico e meccanico e la sensibilità numerica" written by Italian futurist Filippo Tommaso Marinetti.
Lanz now lives in Shanghai and Evangelista in Rome but the group remains active and continues to appear live.

22. Mai 2020I think, their musical output can be divided in two categories: the “rough” stuff and the “hypnotic” or more “tribal” stuff, both are usually based on apparently simple, though usually interesting repetitive rhythms, with the “rough” stuff having more of a punk performance quality, sometimes getting into the Power Electronics realm, and the “hypnotic” stuff relying heavily on long textures and vocal samples. Both styles can be found throughout their whole discography and it’s not something tied to the band’s lineup changes, as far as I can tell.
You can see the jump from the old MS-20 and overall analog setup into the digital realm at some point, but other than that, the concept and quality remains, impressibly, the same for as many years as they have been active, except perhaps now there’s a more polished finish.
Overall, I love the music and feel that I was missing out for not knowing about it for so long, so now I must devour everything and try to jump start a small collection of releases. So here I am, reviewing a band from the 80's in 2020, the year of the plague.
