Yeah it's from 2012 .... How much is one of those Beatle records and can I get it cheap in the US... Probably... But Dusty 7 copies from the EU.
Shocked at how many mixed reviews there are of MusicOnVinyl. Personally - would rather deal with them than the crooks at FridayMusic.
I'm a rather big fan of David Bowie - with his 1990s output being my favourite. I have both MoV and Friday pressings from that time and can hands down say that MoV is better quality in terms of packaging (the sleeves are immaculate and they actually come with proper poly-lined innersleeves) and the records are great quality too (love my blue copy of 'Earthling' - sound quality is perfect).
Seriously though, FridayMusic aren't worth the money considering they use awful tri-gatefold sleeves and send out warped records repeatedly with little to no protection. So if you're a Bowie fan deciding whether to get the MoV or Friday pressing of... let's say 'hours...' (because aI own both versions). Dear God get the MoV one if you have any sense.
J'en ai quelques-uns, les disques sont bien pressés, les pochettes sont "cheap", assez fines et fragiles, pour la reproduction image c'est moyen, pour le son c'est correct mais sans plus, j'ai un peu l'impression d'écouter un CD, il y a tout mais c'est très aseptisé, le prix est correct, donc pour les titres rares c'est tentant, mais moi j'arrête...
Bought about 10 records from them. They are ok, they are not audiophile, but they are cheaper so I think this is a fair deal. You get what you pay for, so I can recommend there stuff.
I am mixed on this company. The records I have received have been silent with no issues, and despite the fact that they use digital sources, the quality of sound is good, but not great. I think they are priced fairly for the most part, but some items are slightly over priced for what they are. This is a good company for obtaining titles that you would not otherwise be able to get or afford and their copies will do just fine, but it is a shame they don't use original sources when available.
I own a variety of MOV records. Michael Jackson/Dangerous, Avril Lavigne/Under My Skin, The Who/Who's Next, Warren Zevon/Excitable Boy and David Bowie/Heathen. They all sound amazing, very dynamic and still. Some have hissing noises on the inner tracks, but that's pretty normal artefact in vinyl (and one of two main reasons why a lot of records are pressed on two vinyls nowadays). You can argue about whether the source is 100% anologue or just pressed from HQ digital audio, but at the end of the day it's all about how it sounds. I have yet to buy a MOV that doesn't have an excellent price/quality ratio.
Seems a lot of people are primarily mixed on this label, some say they're good others say they're bad, I see myself more in the middle, again, could be depending on the seller or the pressing plant
EDIT: now I have gotten my Chocolat release, so far the sound is pretty decent and not as what I feared, could be just me, but could have been worse, I can agree their packaging styles is just use the CD art and blow it up to LP size, but the colored discs more than make up for it, they're no Mondo but for a budget label, it's not too bad, wouldn't mind picking up another of theirs down the road.
Great quality pressings with fabulous sound quality. Even though most MOV releases are from High quality digital files, they still sound very different on vinyl than they do on CD or from a digital file. MOV happens to be my favorite label since their prices are decent and quality control is very good.
