Gerry Rafferty – City To City

The speed on this pressing is a little slower than the European original pressing. Right Down The Line has a bit of a different vibe as a result. Not sure that it's better than the UK original, but it's different. Both are great.

The previous comment is correct. The mastering is identical to the 1985 CD that you can get for dirt cheap.

Originally Released on Vinyl on the 20/1/1978 for United Artists Records, and this is his second studio album and this is a different track sequence to other formats on this tape.

Unfortunately, bass is recessed on this master... It's not totally absent but it's definitely not at the same level as my French OG (which was not in a great shape in the first place).
OG US or UK is probably the way to go here.

Edit: just noticed my OBI is different from this one (the rest is identical, price included). The back of it is promoting releases from 1978 so i wonder if it's just a late 1st press or a totally different one.
Anyway, it would be great if someone could had the run-outs of this one so we could compare.

Was skeptical on the coloured record.. boy was I wrong.. amazing press, get this one if you can. Still baffles me how good Right Down The Line is

Orange vinyl super clean and quiet, amazing sound quality, warmth, depth, full range, detail and soundstage, vocals and harmonies on point. I don't have any other version to compare with, but this should satisfy even a very critical listener.

Vinyl done right! Beautiful pressing, besides the minor point of being spread across 3 sides, this is about as perfect as a new vinyl can be. Definitely going to be getting a lot of spins.

Wow,,compared to my old original copy this is a couple levels above for sure ,
I know it sounds lame but i honestly hear so much detail ive never heard before .
Very happy to have this and picked it up for around $30 ish ....well worth it,,and after a couple listens i think its a steal
The bass has a tight clean punch that I know is hard to perfect ,the high end is nice and detailed without being over sizzly as i hear on a lot of "remasters".
Nice soundstage with good separation of instruments and vocals
Best if all its a very nice listen ,,so smooth and pleasing ,and dead quiet vinyl ,what more can be asked for

So funny how a record this long could sound so good on vinyl. Smart engineering plus clever mastering. This art is no more, unfortunately.

The music itself and cover art are glorious. The pressing quality is high, zero noise.

But I prefer the HiRes Tidal version. It has a wider soundstage, more balance of instruments.
