Gerry Rafferty – Night Owl

Beautiful sounding half speed remastering by Miles Showell, Germany does have nice sounding pressings, I know Japanese pressings are generally thought of as the bee's knees but that all depends on the original master.

Miles hit it out of the park with the mastering on this one. A very under-rated album from a very under-rated artist.

Only ONE PHOTO of the front cover, no rear cover, NO LABELS, NO RUNOUTS, no details of any kind. Why did the person who listed it bother?. No-one can check it against their copy.

Absolutely agree. Great album, nice bridges between folk, rock and pop. Get It Right Next Time should have been a much bigger hit single in the UK, a timeless masterpiece. Days Gone Down and especially Family Tree are my favourites, the latter sporting a brilliant guitar solo.

One note to make about this US pressing. To me, it seems to be mastered a bit high/hot. It's very clear and defined, but I have to say that it hurts my ears a bit! If anyone knows what the definitive pressing of Night Owl is, I'd be interested to know.

Such a full recording and this pressing sounds great. Approve.

Catalogue number on back cover is UALA-500958 but on label it's 50958

Really nice album. Three songs on the first side alone are credit worthy. "Get It Right Next Time" is totally off the hook musically. Really nice overall album from start to finish. Underappreciated
