I found out about this one in some Steve Hoffman thread and it turned out to be one of the best (in the top 25 or so) pressings in my collection. There is something about this one vs. the other WYWHs that brings me in just a bit more and puts a smile on my face every time I listen to it.
Vor 3 Jahren bearbeitetI agree with the other reviewers, this is simply a fantastic German pressing by EMI Electrola and must be considered a top contender among all pressings of this wonderful album by PF. The album has great dynamics, is very clear throughout and has outstanding bass. As comparison, I have the 2016 Grundman reissue which I feel is a really good pressing, especially when you factor in the cost and its wide availability. I mention the Grundman reissue because there's been a lot of talk about it being comparable to earlier pressings. Now even though the 2016 is great, make no mistake that the German pressing is in an entirely different league. The dynamics are just way better and I wouldn't be surprised if the sound spectrum image of the albums when compared would show this. The bass on Welcome To The Machine makes the walls of my room vibrate that just blows the Grundman reissue out of the water.
Seems to be unremastered. This edition has the lowest ground-noise of all versions I've heard. DMM? Very interesting...
