Reviews
- This unreleased live show from August 1972 is beautifully packaged, with a well-designed gatefold, a large booklet with interviews, 180g vinyl, and I have no complaints about the quality of the pressing. The performance is spirited and energetic, Scott and George Coleman are locked in and play off one another wonderfully, and as previously mentioned, Bobby Durham's drumming can be a bit over-the-top at times. Side four also features Ernie Andrews on vocals. My copy plays nice and clean with no surface noise of note.
- Overall, I'm happy to be able to eavesdrop on this relatively bristling set from Ms. Scott & co., despite the uneven fidelity of the recording. Mr. Durham's drumming, while fatiguing, gives the players drive to excel over material which could easily become boogaloo fodder given the chance. The D side's gospel picnic feel wears out it's welcome for me, despite the crowd's enthusiasm (it was, after all, a Sunday potluck concert). Pressing is excellent.
- Great sounding pressing, cut by Kevin Gray from the original tapes. Packaging is ok, sleeve and booklet are nice, but the cheap paper inner sleeves left small scratches. They don't impact the sound, luckily.
