- The Sound of this pressing is excellent to my ears with good dynamics and a very quiet pressing. My copy is not, however, as flat as I would like.
Originally released in France on Isabel Records under the title "Going Back", this LP features one of the best duos in blues history: guitarist Buddy Guy and harmonica artist Junior Wells. Over the years, the two made a number of shots, but this is unique. During their tour of Europe in 1981, Guy and Wells took a break from their backing band and the amplifiers played this spontaneous and purely acoustic recording. The result is in stark contrast to the punchy Chicago blues the duo is known for. The recordings are instead relaxed and personal, with an intimate, downright domestic feel. Guy switch between six- and twelve-string guitars and prepares the ground for Wells' harmonica by encouraging acoustic rhythms. Both are responsible for the vocal contribution, a homage to the original roots of country blues, to which both men of modern blues refer in common.
