Rezensionen
- Following on from from their first two albums the Richest Man in Babylon continues on the same theme. Here you will find rich, down tempo, dubby, warm grooves that sound like they are from all over the globe. If you like anything else by Thievery Corporation then you won't be disappointed.
- Emiliana Torrini helps bliss out, "Heaven's Gonna Burn Out Your Eyes," the opening track of Thievery Corporation's THE RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON, an auspicious start. "Facing East" mines a keep well of Middle Eastern groove, which reappears on "Un Simple Histoire." Lou Lou offers up a cosmic dreaminess with "Omid," while the funk slides out on the horns of "All That We Perceive." Brazil pops back up on "Meu Destino" and the Afro-Caribbean side of it on "Exilio." But the dub is never far from their consciousness, made explicit in "The Outernationalist" and the title track, or in mellowed-out form on "From Creation" or "The State of the Union." Torrini returns for lazy, loping "Until the Morning," and "Resolution" ends the album on a swell of strings. This album is rich indeed.
- This album is absolutely a highlight for all private collectors or DJ`s.
Unique music, underground club music, all styles, bossa latin, perfect voices and lyrics, new downbeat future styles.
Triple AAA+++
For me one of the best album in last 10 years.
Don`t miss it.
- I just got this release the other day. I can't believe how awesome this album is and I enjoy every song that's on it (some more than others). The wide variety of worldy sounds make up some of the most beautiful tracks I've ever heard. The lyrics and the vocals are magical as well. Track 14, with the lady singing, kills me every time...
- I have just been to the Thievery Corporation appearance in Thessaloniki, first date of their world tour...
What can I say about the lot. The two hour wait for the main console to be fixed was worth every single moment as the group travelled the clubbers into a musical journey throughout their various ethnic sounds!!!
I let the whole set and appearance as a surprise to those of you who will attend their concert.
All I can say is that they mixed smoothly old tunes with ones from their new "Richest man..." album.
Best moment of the concert, when they played per-capella (unplugged) the homonym track from their 3rd album!!!
Respect! The album is as chill-out as well as uplifting melodic/down-tempo/lo-beat with great vocals for a perfect sunset at the beach! - Such a rich, varied album, indeed.
Exploring the delicious sounds of dub, the mellow vibrance of Brazilian bossa nova and intoxicating exotic Jamaican beats, Richest Man in Babylon transports us into a magical journey through the tropics, perfect for late night listening sessions.
Once again, Thievery Corporation consolidates as one of my favorite artists of all time.
