Manufacturing Error Replacement Program
Some copies of this record, notably in the serial number range 11,000 and the serial range number 14,500 (there may be others), have a manufacturing aberration in track B1 "Walk Of Life". On this particular lacquer and resultant stampers at one point the extreme bass proved difficult to track on some, but not most, turntables. New stampers were subsequently made. Mobile Fidelity acknowledged the problem and by August 2019 was providing replacement discs only via the original vendors or directly to the original purchaser who bought from Mobile Fidelity or Music Direct. The faulty platters were to be returned to MoFi and destroyed. The limited time for exchanges/returns has a yet-to-be-determined expiration date.

The replacement discs BaOI information for serial number range 11,000 and the serial range number 14,500 (there may be others) is as follows:
A Side Runout: MFSL2-441 A1 22624.1 (3) [email protected]
B Side Runout: MFSL2-441 B3 24168.2 (3) [email protected]

Really a incredible sounding record. The flipping every two songs is a little annoying but so worth it for the sound :)

This is the best sounding album I have without a doubt. Ride across the river is something else

Bit late to the party on this one. I have an original UK pressing so was interested to see how this MOFI release compared. Holy crap there is no comparison!! This 45rpm version sounds absolutely phenomenal across the board. The bass is off the charts, the drums have some serious heft and of course MK’s guitar just sounds incredible - wow! Seems to sound better the louder you play it. Yes this is going to get played a lot.

As digital it might be, this pressing is dynamite. Even my wife likes it and thats saying a lot.

Just got this in the mail, #21423, same runouts, and I saw the comments here about some of the same defects, so I was a little nervous putting this on. Started listening, and WOW does it sound great! No issues with Side B whatoever.

Goodness gracious. There’s absolutely nothing I can add to the reviews about how great this sounds. I’ll just say that this album was a favorite when I was a kid, and I’ve heard this a million times. When I heard the whole beginning of “Money For Nothing” on this pressing it made me giggle like a little kid. It’s that good.

Available again on Music Direct and “awaiting repress” on MoFi site. When I ordered it last week from MD it was “awaiting repress” so I said hey what the hell, I’ll just buy it now and get it whenever it’s pressed. Was surprised to see that took less than a week. Run don’t walk, get ‘em before they’re gone again.

March 2022, MoFi numbered copy: 004464, just bought new from Ebay from a seller who had a few still for sale.
Just finished a comparo between 2019 Back To Black remaster by Grundman and Ludwig, and the 2015 MoFi remaster. They are both excellent in their own right. The differences: MoFi more defined and deeper bass throughout, especially noticeable on Ride Across The River. The 2019 remaster leans a bit brighter thus reveals a bit more of upper end detail that may seem a tiny bit muted on the MoFi. The MoFi is definitely trying to reduce the digital 'sheen' that this recording is famed for and get us as close to analog as possible with the original source. (Yes I know this is a full digital original recording). The MoFi has greater mid range energy too, along with a little more natural sounding vocal tone.
Overall I would be pleased with either, just a matter of preference on if you like a bit more brighter presentation on the Back To Black, or a little more atmospheric and warmer presentation on the MoFi.

This is the best I've ever heard this album (I have an OG pressing as well). I went in for a copy numbered in the 6000 range (purchased from a reseller) - I avoided copies later than the 11000 range based on the reviews below. I feel lucky, as it sounds flawless. Amazing mastering and pressing of one of my favorite albums.
