The title of this LP is taken from Edward Burroughs [!], a prominent northern revolutionary Quaker whose collected works published posthumously in 1663 was entitled "The Memorable Works of a Son of Thunder and Consolation."

Mid-priced repress without SID-codes, glass mastered and most probably pressed at EMI Uden. Jewel case with anthracite tray, 20-page booklet. Partially manufactured with an EMI-"Cool Price"-sticker on the jewel case front. The second cat# is for UK distribution.
The French price code is PM 516, indicating reduced pricing. Issued in this form around 1992. See also version guide in the master release.
"Dogwork"-credits are given for the calligraphic artwork and layout of the release. This is also confirmed by several other releases of New Model Army, e.g. Vagabonds and Impurity.
The album title was derived from a collection of religious pamphlets by English Quaker Edward Burrough (1634-1663), "The Memorable Works of a Son of Thunder and Consolation", first published posthumously in 1671 (not in 1663 as indicated).
