Based on previous creations by Lustmord that are not that difficult to identify (The Monstrous Soul, Metavoid, Heresy and Strange Attractor), these Hecate reworks (mostly) succeed at transposing ambient content into rhythmic frenzy. This record is an island of quality atmospheres and harsh beats, respective specialties of both artists'.
Monstrosity is a painfully efficient combination of vocal samples (from Ixaxaar), moody synths and furious breakbeats. Heresy Resurrected is another hardbreak piece that provides an unsettling feel -- the words and melody are a bit over the top, but it goes well enough in the mix. Strong Attractron is a beatless (but nowhere near merrier) wave of wrath and anxiety. The killer cut is Megavoid, still, debatably because it has the best source material. Legions of Doom gather, then march past medieval iron furnaces on their way to meeting their opponents. When the enemy is engaged and the proper battle begins with both armies running down the hill and the cavalry charging, all hell breaks loose; the menacing broken beat morphs into fastcore, topped with epic brass that are highly reminiscent of Conan the Barbarian's theme. Sheer melodic brutality.
